Afghan authorities close their airspace for security reasons

Today, Thursday, the Afghan authorities closed their airspace for security reasons, according to Al-Arabiya TV.

Kabul also prevented a plane with the speaker of the Pakistani parliament from landing.

The Afghan Ministry of Defense announced today the killing of 31 Taliban militants in Kandahar province, southern Afghanistan, in an operation carried out against the Taliban in the regions of Arghandab, Zahri, Shah, Alikot, and Maywand in Kandahar province.

“As a result of these operations, 31 Taliban militants were killed and 19 others were wounded, and some of the movement’s weapons and ammunition were destroyed,” the ministry said in a statement, today, Thursday.

Afghanistan suffers from repeated confrontations and military operations between the Afghan government forces and the Taliban, despite the parties’ engagement in peace talks.
