Germany, March 15: Today, Monday, the Confederation of Intensive Care Departments in German Hospitals called for an immediate return to complete closure due to the continued high numbers of new infections and deaths from the Coronavirus – Covid 19.

“The data available to us and the modified British strain of the virus strongly push us to demand an immediate return to a complete closure in order to prevent the outbreak of a third wave of the epidemic,” Christian Karagianides, head of the scientific department of the federation, said in a press statement.

He added that he hoped that the 16 German states would abide by the standard of 100 new infections per 100,000 people, noting the danger of not adhering to this standard for the intensive care departments in various German hospitals.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel agreed with the heads of government of German states two weeks ago to ease the lockdown measures and return step by step to normal life, which is still facing criticism from the medical and scientific circles in Germany.
