Kuwait City, Sep 29: The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority has warned its Kuwaiti counterpart that it will reciprocate and impose restrictions on flights of national carriers if Kuwait, on its part, does not allow PIA flights to and from Kuwait before October 1, 2021, i.e. within two days. Reported by Al-Rai.
According to the Pakistani English-language newspaper, The Dawn, the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority wrote in the context of an official letter to its Kuwaiti counterpart: “While our national air carrier continues to strive hard to resume its flights to and from Kuwait, the Kuwait Civil Aviation Administration has not Granted him approval for it so far.”
The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority said that it would “reduce one flight per week operated by each of the two Kuwaiti airlines,” but warned at the same time that it “has the authority to completely ban” the flights of Kuwaiti airlines from entering Pakistan.
They complained that “the ban on operating flights by Pakistan Airlines to Kuwait has been in effect since May 2021 under the pretext of preventing the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, despite the continuation of Kuwaiti flights in the service of the state. With the number of coronavirus cases continuing to decline in Pakistan, the national carrier of Pakistan has sought permission to resume its air operations to Kuwait, but to no avail so far.
The newspaper pointed out that PIA serves several destinations in other Gulf countries, including Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
