Kuwait City, Oct 10: Despite the opening of registration to receive the booster dose (3rd dose) of the “Covid 19” vaccine for age groups 18 years and over, informed sources confirmed that the conditions for immunization have not changed and therefore the procedures related to travel are still the same. It is “so far”. Reported by Al-Rai.
They explained that the completion of immunization by obtaining two doses of the approved vaccine platforms in the country (Pfizer – Oxford – Moderna) and one dose of the “Johnson & Johnson” vaccine have not changed at the present time, noting that travelers coming to the country are also considered immunized, If they have received two doses of one of the unapproved vaccines, including (Sinopharma, Sinovac and Sputnik), provided that the person has received at least one additional dose of the approved vaccines in Kuwait.
Noting that international organizations recommended giving a third dose with the aim of enhancing immunity against the “Corona” virus, the sources confirmed that the conditions for completing immunization “will continue as they are in the current period with the ability to change later”, to be part of the basic vaccination schedule against “Covid 19”, In light of what is recommended by international organizations, based on the results of studies that indicate that the effect of the vaccine is declining after a period of 6 months, which prompted several countries to start giving booster doses of the vaccine.
Last week, the European Medicines Agency authorized the administration of a third dose of the “Pfizer” vaccine to adults over the age of 18, at least 6 months after the date of receiving the second dose, which is the same procedure that the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health committed yesterday during its announcement of the new vaccine. Registration is open for a booster dose.
