The lowest birth rate in Kuwait since 2005

Kuwait City, March 15: Kuwait recorded the lowest rate of newborns over 15 years during the “Corona Year” as the number of newborns reached 50,409 births in 2020, which is the lowest number since 2005, in which 48,459 births were registered.

By analyzing the numbers, the number of births during 2020 decreased by 2.9 percent, equivalent to 1517 births, to become 50,409, when compared to 2019, when the number of births reached 51,926.


In terms of births according to nationality, the number of Kuwaiti births decreased during 2020 by 1.8 percent, including 575 births, reaching 31,295 in 2020 compared to 31,870 births in 2019.

As for the resident births, their number decreased by 4.69%, equivalent to 942 births, to reach 19,114 in 2020 compared to 20056 in 2019.
