Municipal Council member Dr. Hassan Kamal revealed that “50 percent of the third phase of the Al-Shaheed Park project has been completed, while retaining some wooden structures and parts of the old skating rink to be used to create a three-dimensional museum, in addition to other site-specific holdings.”

Kamal said, during the tour carried out by the Committee for the Preservation of Historic and Heritage Monuments and Urban Development in the Municipal Council yesterday to Al-Shaheed Park, with the aim of inspecting the third phase of the project, the skating rink, and standing on the completed works. And the third, in addition to following up on how to deal with historical and heritage sites at the project site, including (the Levant Gate and the Ski Arena),” noting that “the project was carried out in direct coordination between the Emiri Diwan and the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, and in cooperation with the Committee for the Preservation of Historic and Heritage Monuments and Development. urban council.

He stressed that “the project is a great achievement, which gives us great happiness with the national teams and cadres that have contributed and are still contributing to its completion and implementation, whether it was technical or legislative.”

In turn, a member of the Municipal Council, Engineer Abdul Salam Al Randi, said that the project will be handed over at the end of 2022, describing it as “a heart-warming thing.”

He added that one of the most prominent obstacles that the committee followed in dealing with it was the commitment to preserve the green space in the project, which amounted to 90 percent, in addition to preserving the historical and archaeological buildings in the project as much as possible, or at least preserving its spirit for its importance.

For his part, Director of Contracts and Technical Accounting at the Amiri Diwan, Ibrahim Ashkanani, explained that “the area of ​​the third stage in the project is approximately equal to the area of ​​the first and second stages,” noting that “the gymnasium will be impressive for young and old among the park’s pioneers, and will meet all the needs of different ages.” He stressed that the third phase of the project includes a main skating hall with Olympic specifications, a snow park with a variety of 6 games, in addition to a special corner for “Skydive”, the sport of flying.
