Basra Oil Company denied the rumours of exploring oil on the Kuwaiti side

The Basra Oil Company, owned by the Iraqi Ministry of Oil, denied today what was rumored that the Kuwaiti side was exploring for oil at the border strip between the two countries, stressing that “the video circulating on social media for oil drilling devices is fabricated.”

The company said in a statement that “the video was fabricated in terms of distance using the zoom technology so that the recipient would delude that the distance is not more than 100 meters in order to arouse public opinion.”

The company presented a video of its monitoring and follow-up teams with true dimensions, proving that the oil operations of the other side are more than 400 meters away inside Kuwaiti territory.

And it considered that “it is the right of any state to practice its activities within the recognized international borders and according to international law, and we do not find in it a violation of the rights of others.”
