The two countries are studying major joint investment projects
Kuwaiti Ambassador to Paris Sami Al-Sulaiman discussed with a committee of the French Senate the relations between the two countries, especially in light of upgrading the level of cooperation between them to the level of a strategic partnership.
Ambassador Al-Sulaiman told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) after meeting with the head and members of the French-Gulf Friendship Committee in the French Senate that he gave an explanation before the committee in which he dealt with the nature of the distinguished relations between Kuwait and France through basic axes, the most important of which are political consultation and coordination, investment and trade cooperation, health, security and military cooperation cultural, scientific and artistic.
He stressed that “the two friendly countries worked hard in distinguished cooperation and coordination and achieved progress, rapprochement and joint work in many issues,” praising the progress and prosperity achieved in the joint work between the State of Kuwait and France, until cooperation between them reached the level of strategic partnership.
He added that the two sides doubled their joint cooperation at all levels and in parliamentary and international forums, noting that the exchange of visits at all levels contributed to strengthening the close relations between the two countries and achieving many achievements during the past few years.
He also referred to the successful visit of the President of the French Senate, Gerard Larcher, to the State of Kuwait in 2019 at the invitation of National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim, stressing that it “reflected the keenness and interest of the Speaker and members of the National Assembly to strengthen the bonds of friendship with parliamentarians and the friendly people of France.”
He added that “the pace of political, security and military coordination has doubled, and France has become an ideal destination for Kuwaiti investments, which are becoming increasingly popular and successful,” noting that the two sides are studying large joint investment projects.
He referred to France’s interest in the investment opportunities available in Kuwait, stressing that there is an increasing French investment and commercial presence in the Kuwaiti markets.
With regard to cultural cooperation, Al-Sulaiman said, “The past period witnessed a diversified bilateral cooperation in the academic and scientific fields, research and training between scientific and intellectual institutions in the two countries, in addition to the fact that there are projects and related agreements under discussion.”
In the health field, Al-Sulaiman said that during the meeting, he highlighted ways of cooperation in the medical fields and exchanging experiences in dealing with the health consequences of the (Corona emerging – Covid 19) epidemic, in addition to intensifying the benefit of advanced French expertise in the fields of care, treatment and rehabilitation.
He indicated that France receives large numbers of Kuwaiti students, tourists and patients, who find welcome and assistance from all French authorities and institutions.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Friendship Group with the Gulf States, the Vice-Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Defense and Armed Forces Committee, Senator Olivier Kadec, and the Head of Friendship Affairs with Kuwait, Senator Danny Watbild.
