Al-Mutairi for the “Third Gulf Games” Committee: Overcoming obstacles to ensure the best preparation

The Supreme Organizing Committee of the third edition of the Gulf Sports Games held its third meeting, headed by the Minister of Information and Culture and the Minister of State for Kuwaiti Youth Affairs Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi, to prepare for this gathering, which is scheduled to be hosted by the country from January 9 to 19.

The meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the General Sports Authority on Tuesday, emphasized the need to finalize the organizational and technical matters, the stadiums on which the competitions will be held, the training of the participating teams, and the securing of hosting requirements to ensure the comfort of the sisterly Gulf delegations.

Committee member, Deputy Director-General of the Public Authority for Sports for Competitive Sports Affairs, Dr. Saqr Al-Mulla, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) after the meeting, it was stressed the need for sports facilities to be ready to receive this important sporting event.

Al-Mulla added that the State of Kuwait possesses distinguished facilities at the level of stadiums, indoor halls and swimming pools, enabling it to successfully organize this sports forum, which will witness competitions in 15 team and individual games.

He stated that the meeting discussed the implementation of all health precautions related to the Corona virus pandemic, the approved protocol, and the determination of the locations of medical centers to follow up on these procedures.

He pointed out that Minister Al-Mutairi directed the “necessity of providing sports camps for the participating Kuwaiti teams and overcoming all obstacles to ensure the best preparation and then achieve distinguished results,” praising the efforts of all sports federations and clubs in preparing for the establishment of this session that brings together the people of the Arab Gulf.

The tournament includes football, handball, volleyball, basketball, swimming, athletics, karate, judo, fencing, archery, tennis, cycling, ice hockey, table tennis, in addition to electronic games.

The meeting was attended by Hussein Al-Musallam, Director General of the course, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi from the Ministry of Health, Mishaal Al-Subaie from the Public Authority for Youth, Hana Al-Bati from the Kuwait Anti-Doping Agency, Suleiman Al-Fahad from the General Administration of Customs, and Ali Al-Marri from the Kuwait Olympic Committee.
