The Director General of the General Administration of Customs, Counselor Jamal Al-Jalawi, stressed that the services of the electronic platform of the General Administration of Customs are of increasing importance, thanks to the advantages it provides and its availability of support for the administration’s plans to increase revenues, tighten control, reduce costs and improve the business environment that contributes to the speedy release of goods in addition to enhancing The administration’s role in achieving economic growth and supporting the construction of a digital economy, noting that thanks to these integrated strategies, the administration has witnessed many reforms and successes in multiple axes, including an accelerated increase in revenues supported by an increase in reliance on technology.
In a press statement on the occasion of the electronic link between the General Administration of Customs and the General Fire Service, Counselor Al-Jalawi said that the customs have sufficient experience and complete determination to move to new stages of the process of development and digital transformation within the framework of an ambitious strategy to facilitate cross-border trade, pointing out that government agencies related to customs work. It is one of the most important sectors that overlap in releases operations within a series of logistical procedures and operations, so we are working to expand the use of the digital platform of the General Administration of Customs to accomplish this task, which focuses on technological solutions and innovations aimed at supporting the operations and basic requirements of government sectors and the commercial community.
Al-Jalawi added that the entry into operation of the automated linking and electronic releases with the electronic system of the Public Fire Service is a very important step in the customs work system and cooperation with government agencies, while we continue to expand the digital services of the automated customs system in all stages of cross-border trade and sectors of the commercial community will benefit from the capabilities and advantages of these services directly, which makes the processes of releasing goods faster and less costly, in addition to strengthening the aspects of customs controls.
The automated link system has been designed according to the highest standards and in cooperation with the specialized sectors of the Public Fire Force and the Central Agency for Information Technology, and meets the requirements for the procedural processes for issuing approvals electronically without the need for reviews and through electronic engines that direct the restricted data to obtain the required releases, as the number of completed transactions has reached Electronically between the General Administration of Customs and the General Fire Service, nearly 100 customs declarations have been issued since the launch of the linking services between the two sides on November 16, 2021.
