The director of the European branch of the World Health Organization, Hans Kluge, warned Friday that it will not be possible to overcome Covid-19 until 70 percent of the world’s population is vaccinated.

He said: The epidemic will end when we reach a vaccination rate of at least 70 percent, noting that the pace of immunization is still very slow in Europe, as the severity of infection with mutated versions of the virus increases the severity of anxiety.

He also expressed his concern about the high level of transmission of mutated versions of the Coronavirus, and said: We know, for example, that B1617 (the Indian mutated “) is more contagious than B. 117” British mutant “, which was basically more contagious than the previous version of the virus, but it is He stressed that vaccines are effective against current mutated versions of the virus.

He stressed the need to accelerate the pace of vaccination to put an end to the prolonged epidemic more than expected.

He stated, “During any epidemic, speed is important, indicating the absence of this factor at the beginning of the spread of Covid.

“Time is running out for us,” he said. “We have to accelerate the pace of the vaccination campaign. We have to increase the number of vaccines available.”

It is reported that in the 53 regions categorized by the World Health Organization within Europe, 26 percent of the population received a first dose of vaccinations.

36.6 percent of the European Union population received at least one dose of vaccines, according to the France Press census, while 16.9 percent were fully vaccinated.
