Fixed fee for renewing a 60-year old age labor permit

Kuwait City, April 29: With the expiration of the deadline set by the Public Authority for Manpower on May 5, two weeks to issue a ministerial decision regarding amendments to Resolution 520 of 2020, which prohibits the issuance of a work permit for those who have reached 60 years and over who hold high school diplomas and below and their equivalent, the Minister of Commerce and Industry revealed Dr.Abdullah Al-Salman, that that decision has not yet been issued, stressing that it is still in the process of careful study in all aspects, in order to achieve the best vision upon its issuance, and in the interest of the state in the first place, as well as business owners.

Al-Salman explained to Al-Jarida that the amendments will include imposing fixed fees for the worker whose work permit (residence permit) is to be renewed, so that he can complete his work in the country legally and without violating the decisions regulating the labor market, adding, “We are currently studying all perceptions of fees. To choose the best and appropriate ones to achieve the desired goal.

Thousands of expatriate workers covered by the decision are awaiting the amendments to be added to its clauses, as it will allow them to renew their residency according to specific controls and conditions.
