Germany, March 26: The district of Leipzig closes the Markkleeberger and Störmthaler See from Friday. The district office announced that the waters may not be used until June. For anyone who does not adhere to it, there is a mortal danger.
The canoe park lock between the lakes is damaged and threatens to break open. Millions of cubic meters of water would flow out, cause big waves at the Markkleeberger See and lead to a suction effect in the Störmthaler See. There is also a threat of flooding in Markkleeberg and Leipzig.
The lock is now to be secured and repaired by the end of May.
