The European economy records a growth of 2% on a quarterly basis

Kuwait City, Aug 17: The eurozone economy grew by 2% in the second quarter on a quarterly basis, according to data from the European Union Statistics Office released today, amid the easing of restrictions related to the Corona pandemic.

While the pace of GDP growth was revised down from 13.7 percent to 13.6 percent during the second quarter, compared to the same period last year, when the economy witnessed the worst phase of the epidemic.

Despite the strong rebound in the second quarter, the eurozone economy is still about 3% lower than it was at the end of 2019.


Separate data showed eurozone employment grew by 0.5% in the April-June period on a quarterly basis, in line with expectations.
